Everything you need to know about AIStorinha, step by step.
To begin using AIStorinha, sign in with Google or email/password. Public demos are there to explore examples before you sign in. In beta environments, new accounts may have to wait to be unlocked and the screen states that clearly before dashboard access is unlocked. Once unlocked and logged in, you will be taken to your Dashboard where you can see all your stories. The first thing you should do is add your child: go to Children, tap "Add Child", enter their name, age, and pick a fun emoji avatar. You can add several children, and each will get stories tailored to their age and interests.
Creating a story takes 3 steps. Step 1: choose which child the story is for (or add a new child). Step 2: customize the story. Pick a story format, a genre and a visual style (some options depend on the child's age band or on your plan, and the screen says so), then a theme (Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Nature or Friendship) and a length, from Short (6-8 pages) to Epic (23-30 pages). You can also choose a literary style, set safety preferences, decide who the hero is, and add inspiration material (PDF or images). Step 3: use the Story Genie to fine-tune the details before generating. The progress screen shows each stage until the story is ready.
The Story Genie is your personal briefing assistant. In Step 3 of the wizard, it asks questions to refine the story: What should be the main lesson? Are there specific characters you want? Any preferences for the ending? Your answers help craft a detailed story brief. You can also skip this step and go straight to generation if you prefer.
When you tap "Create My Story!", our AI gets to work. The writing step creates a story bible with characters and chapter outlines, drafts each chapter with age-appropriate language, and polishes the prose. A safety review checks the content for child-appropriate material. The illustration step creates custom artwork for each chapter. You can follow the progress on the generation screen. Narration is not made while the story is written: it is prepared the first time someone asks for it (see the audio narration section). Like any AI output, a story can contain mistakes, so read it before you share it with a child.
When the story is ready, open it in the Reader. If the story is yours to edit, Book view offers edit tools: select a passage to simplify the language, fix grammar, or ask for a custom AI rewrite, and regenerate a chapter illustration with a new prompt. Edit tools are not shown in public demos or in the Living scene. Version history is preserved.
Regular stories open in "Living scene" by default: the picture fills the screen and the text appears scene by scene, always in a dark, night-style look. Move on by tapping, swiping or using the arrow keys; use "Listen" to hear it and "Settings" to change the letters. Tap "Book view" to read page by page, and "Living scene" to go back. This choice is saved on this device only, not in your child's details. On low-end devices, with data saver on or on a slow connection, the Reader switches to a lighter book layout by itself. Comic stories always open in the comic reader (see the comics section).
Comic stories open in the comic reader. The "Comic reading mode" bar has four modes: "Full page", "Guided panels", "Vertical sequence" and "Transcript" (the panel text as plain text). On a phone it starts in "Guided panels"; on larger screens it starts in "Full page", or in "Vertical sequence" for vertical comics. The panel where you stopped is saved, so the story continues from there; the mode itself is chosen again each time. Comics are not narrated by default: the narration control appears only when the story already has narration or can have it prepared. Comic formats can be limited by the child's age band and by your plan.
Each child can have their own reading settings. Tap "Adjust reading" in the Reader, or on the child's card in Children. You can set the theme ("Day", "Night", "Sepia", "High contrast"), the font ("Story", "OpenDyslexic" or "System"), "Size and spacing" ("Wide spacing"), the "Ruler", "Calm mode" and "Narration speed". "Calm mode" uses a warm palette, turns effects off and slows narration down. Choose the save option for the child to keep the settings on every device; without choosing a child they stay on this device only. The Living scene keeps its own dark look, so the theme choice does not recolor it.
Narration reads the story aloud with an AI-generated voice. In Book view, tap "Read to Me"; in the Living scene, use "Listen". Narration is prepared on demand the first time it is requested, so you may see "Preparing narration..." for a moment. If it cannot be prepared, the Reader says so instead of pretending to play. The sentence being read is highlighted; the word is marked only when the story has measured word timings, otherwise the highlight stays on the sentence. Tap any passage to jump the narration there. When you resume a story, the word where you stopped is marked again in Book view (the Living scene restores the scene). Zero Audio Policy: the child's voice is not recorded, live voice mode is off in this release, and narration uses only the generated story audio.
Save a story to read it without a connection. In Book view, tap "Make available offline" (on a phone held sideways, look under "More actions"). The button appears once the story's images have loaded and is not offered for public demos. After saving, the button reads "Available offline" and the story shows an "Offline" tag; use "Remove from offline" to free space. Each device keeps up to 10 stories: saving an 11th removes the oldest. Saving is manual, nothing is saved automatically. Narration works offline only if it was already prepared before you saved the story.
Exports follow your plan. Basic and higher plans can download PDF. Plus adds EPUB, Kindle, narrated video and audio. Pro adds Google Docs. Trial accounts cannot export. The Export menu in the reader only shows what your plan allows, and exports are prepared on our servers before they download to your device.
These controls are not available yet. For now, parents should use the standard story creator.
Safety is our top priority. Every story goes through an automatic safety review, chapter by chapter, covering violence/scary content, age-appropriate language, positive values, harmful stereotypes, and safe endings. Content is tailored to 5 age bands (1-3 shared reading with a caregiver, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12). Automatic protections are always on. Use Children to adjust each child's age, sensitivities, and preferences. The Parental Gate is optional and protected by a numeric PIN; five wrong PINs in a row lock it for a while and the responsible adult receives an email. AI can make mistakes: the automatic review lowers the risk but cannot remove it, so read new stories together. If the safety badge says "Unverified: read together", do exactly that.
Settings has these sections: Account, Language, Google Docs Export, Theme, Reading Preferences, Safety Settings, Privacy Settings, Parental Controls (the optional PIN and kid mode, which needs a PIN), My Data & Privacy (including consent records) and Danger Zone, where you can request account deletion with a 7-day cancellation window; the Parental Gate protects that section when it is set up. The app is available in English, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Spanish, French and Italian.
