Kenji and the Shadow Dragon

All summer long, just as the sky turned orange, a giant shadow dragon danced across the tall white wall on the far side of Kenji’s lane. It spread its wings, curled its tail and bowed to the neighbors on their doorsteps. Nobody knew who made it. Tonight the sky turned orange, but the wall stayed pale and empty, and a long sigh rolled down the lane.

Kenji never left home at dusk without his little flashlight, and now he felt a mystery tugging at him. He turned around. High up in the old apartment house, a window always glowed gold at this hour, but tonight it was dark. “No light, no shadow! That window is where the dragon starts, and I’ll find out why it stopped!” he said.
